What to expect from Medicare Mental Health
Whether you walk in to our Centre or call us on 5117 4357, the first step is to provide information about what services we provide and how we might help you.
One of our trained Mental Health Clinicians will step you through an initial assessment, asking you different questions to better understand your mental health needs. We will then provide you with mental health resources best suited to your needs.

Our Services
A range of factors can impact your mental health. Canberra Medicare Mental Health Centre has a multidisciplinary team of trained clinicians and lived experience workers who can help you on your mental health journey. Starting with an assessment we can then connect you to the mental health services to best suit your needs.
Access to reliable and relevant health information
We support people in distress and provide reliable and relevant health information to all. You can walk in or phone up to speak to a mental health clinician.
Assessment
We take the time to provide a thorough initial assessment to understand your circumstances and assist you to find the right resources and referrals to best meet your needs.
Service Navigation
After initial assessment, we help you source appropriate services to meet your needs. This may include referral to online or e-therapies, local services or referral into our treatment team.
Interventions
You may be referred into the Centre to receive treatment services. This can include individual sessions with one of our mental health professionals or access to our range of group programs.

We offer a range of innovative group programs to help you to better understand and learn ways to manage your challenges. You will meet other people with similar challenges, in a supported and safe environment. At the moment we have a range of programs available including:
Healthy Coping Group
Six weekly sessions focused on building healthy coping skills. For those who are seeking to learn more adaptive, healthy ways to manage the stressors in their life. Learn more about our Health Coping Group
Men’s Resilience Group
For adult men experiencing mental health challenges and who want to learn strategies to boost their resilience. Learn more about our Men’s Resilience Group
Peer Social Group
Weekly sessions for anyone with lived experience of mental health issues who wants to connect with others in a warm, supportive environment. The Group is hosted by a Peer Worker with lived experience of mental illness. Learn more about our Peer Social Group
